Why Lumbar Support
Spinebo got your back!
In general, the spine can maintain its natural curvature without extra support. Most people spend most of their hours in their office chair or in bed. Unfortunately, most of us end up slouching forward. This causes the natural inward curve of the spine goes in the opposite direction, resulting in reversed curvature. This leads to strain and unnecessary pressure on the lower back causing chronic pain. With poor posture this can cause the pain and strain to get worse. So how does a lumbar support able to correct and maintain the natural spine alignment? Read on.
Surround yourself with supportive pillows
When a person is lying down in bed, they may have a gap between their lower back and the mattress. If left unsupported, the flexed curvature of the spine can cause lower back pain. This can lead to trouble sleeping and may cause discomfort and pain waking up. A lumbar support pillow sits between a person’s lower back and the bed. It offers additional support to the lower back, helps with recurring back pain, and improves sleep quality.
Always back you up
When a person is sleeping, muscles movement slow down, and gravity becomes the major influence on the body, particularly on the spine. A lumbar support distributes pressure over a wider body area, limits back pain and other back problems that can arise.
From the textbook
The lumbar spine is in the lower back below the cervical and thoracic sections of the spine. It consists of five vertebrae known as L1 – L5. These lumbar vertebrae (or lumbar bones) contain spinal cord tissue and nerves which control communication between the brain and the legs. Damage to the lumbar spinal cord subsequently affects the hips and groin area and may impact the lower abdominal muscles and thigh flexion as well.
For our mighty moms
Many pregnant women find that their posture changes as the growing baby bump shifts the centre of gravity shifts forward. This means that you might find yourself leaning backwards a lot, leading to increase in stress and strain on the pelvis and lumbar spine. Having a lumbar support, it provides localized support at your back and hips, promotes a healthier sleeping posture, and keeps your fetus feel cradled.

- When standing for long periods of time, reduce low back pressure by transfer the weight of your body from one side to the other.
- When sitting, ensure knees and hips are level and switch positions often.
